Nothing is free! Not even knowlege

May 7, 2011 at 7:37 pm (Uncategorized)

College, we are here how we need to go to college from our parents, teachers and the media. One thing they somehow always forget to add in is how expensive college has gotten these days. If you think about it then you begin to see that the schools charge you for any thing they can, eventually they are going to begin to charge you for breathing their air. In an article Mr. Clark I was reading for my comp II class it said that tuition is going up due to the fact that the states have cut back on their funding for public institution and that there is nothing that will stop the schools from jacking up the price when ever they feel the need a new stadium or state of the art facility.  Attending UTSA  I think the price is to high but then I look at other schools and it is pretty cheap when put next to schools in California. I think the states should cut down on the senators’ pay checks just a little to increase the funding for schools so that everyone can afford to go to them. When I was in high school li heard time after time that the reason all the people I hang out with were not going to school was for the simple fact that they could not afford it and that they had to work in order to help keep food on the table for their family. I was one of the lucky ones who got a scholarship but even with that school still is expensive. The schools charge one as if you wore going to be eating on silver platters and studing in gold rooms. Can some one really put a price tag on giving knowledge (Clark).

My stuffy room!

When you think of UTSA you don’t think of the little college that began in 1969 with only 670 students (utsa.edu). We generally think of the 30,000 plus student campus that only every year seems to be getting bigger and bigger with the growing popularity of the campus nation wide (utsa.edu).  In only forty years the university has more than grown forty times it original size. In the late nineteen nineties the down town campus was opened to further help occupy the and help the university keep up with the growing amount of students attending. One of the problems that this booming of kids flooding in to the university is try to keep up with the construction in order to have enough room to help teach these students. In down town in the Durango building on the first floor my writing complication II class is taught in a dungeon looking room with no windows for natural light to come in. I am no architect major but I have learned that happy architecture is when there is a lot of natural light let into the building in order to help with the attitude of every one. In a room with no windows how is one expected to learn properly if you feel stuffiness in your nose and trapped like a Bexar county inmate. Just because the university is growing at an exponential rate dose not mean they should just shove students and educated professors into the storage closet. If you would like to get the full potential of your high paying costumers you should plan more carefully as to were you will place them.

Great engineering blog site

April 22, 2011 at 11:34 pm (Uncategorized)

sapergalleries.com

There is so many phony blogs out on the web today it is not even funny because when you are looking for useful information you do not even know where to start.  So a question that you mite be asking your self this moment is how do I tell the difference between the ghetto written blogs and the one which are written by actual professionals in my career field. There are many different way from knowing the actual blog writer and his or hers profession but that is not always the case. In my personal opinion one of the best ways is to actualy keep up with the blog site and read the information to see if it is accurate with what others have to say.  In my career of engineering to know that it is a good blog site is simply because of the level of complexity and boringness of the blogs. That is only true for some blogs in engineering some tend to be very interesting if you like it for example in  one blog it goes into talking about how if congress five-hundred and thirty-five seat wore filled with engineers to help resolve all of the worlds problems(Solving the worlds problems). Now just imagine our state being run by engineers people who actually compromise unlike politicians (Solving the worlds problems). In the article it talks about how we could solve problems sixty to ninety percent not the full one-hundred percent like people want them to with laws (Solving the worlds problems). In this web site there are hundred of articles and blogs posted by manly engineers and people progressing in engineering. These people are all sorts of engineers from electrical to telecommunications engineers giving you the option on who’s blogs you can read.

Art or Grafitti?

One of the parasitical problems that sadly every city is faced with is gang related graffiti. The simple creativity of young teens when given a Crayola spay can and a couple of minutes to spar. To many in the American society it is of bunch of scribbles on a wall and a hassle for tax payers(www.timemagazine.com). If you really want to get analytical you ask well what is art? To some graffiti is stylized smears, colored tags and their passion for being unique and creative with what they are given. The reasons, including aesthetic criteria, as to why it is an art form far outweigh the criticism of illegality, incoherence, and nonstandard presentation(www.hiphop-network.com)

The meaning of confabulating

February 22, 2011 at 5:42 am (Uncategorized)

huehueteotl.wordpress.com

In life there are many thing that a woman tell a man in terms of name calling and everything else. One of the ladies favorers is calling all men “big fat lying dogs” and my favorite is when they all men “lie through their teeth” what friendly comment women have for us men who only and the best for them. But here is the real big question can one really be lying if he or she dose not realize it with no intentions. We all have lied at one point of our life weather it was to get out of a hot place or just to get something we so solemnly desired at that moment what ever the reason we all have done it weather we want to openly admit it or not, everyone is guilty. The human mind is so complex that not even today we fully understand how it work its magic. Sometimes we do things naturally like breathing or your heart beating and sometimes they are voluntary like talking or laughing. This bring me to the phrase I wanted to discuss with you all “confabulation” a phase that not many of us here in our busy everyday college lives. It is a syndrome of one failure to filter out irrelevant memories. A patient suffering from this can not tell the difference from what he did yesterday or the week before it is just a big pile of mess in his or her brain ant to make sense of the chaos going on in brain one simply combines all of the memories in order to make some sense of it (neuroskeptic.blogspot.com). People with this syndrome suffer from a disorder caused by vitamin B1 deficiency due to chronic alcoholism. So ever you ever are lucky enough to run into a drunk who is telling great stories from when he or she was young reminiscing in the past just remember that the majority of the time it is going to be confabulation. Sometimes one themselves can get memories mixed up in time of distress or when you feel a great deal of pressure at a given time. For example when you wore in middle school and you got caught for doing something bad and went to your favorite place the principles office where you tell a fantastic story on how it was not your fault and you just pile up all sorts of memories in one to make sense to yourself and to the principle. Now can someone say in a court case that they were not aware of there wrong doing since they suffer from this syndrome leading them to not remembering the specifics of order of the occurrence. A good example of this confabulation is one that my Drugs and Society professor Mrs. Dalterio gave me and that was “if you get wasted on alcohol and end up being unfaithful to your spouse and lie to her but someone else tells her otherwise you are confabulating because you have no memory of the occurrence there for you are not lying”. So what is confabulating and how it differs from stretching the truth? In confabulating you are not aware of what has happen in chronological order as to in stretching the truth you are but making it favorable to yourself(The Confabulation Theory). In the dictionary it is defined as To converse informally or primitively another definition given is to fill a gap of memory with a falsification believed to be true(Random House Webster College Dictionary). So the next time your girlfriend or wife or who ever tells you that you are lying to them simply say I am not lying but confabulating it is a great way to make yourself feel better.

The State of the Union Address

January 28, 2011 at 4:56 pm (Uncategorized)

https://wrcaaron.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/6a00d8341d417153ef0120a824f895970b.jpg?w=300

Politics, it is something that not many of young college students know about especially if you are a minority because the first thing that comes to your mind when someone says government all you think about is how they take taxes from you. This is bigger than economical status but it is how our nation runs the notorious free enterprise. On the twenty fifth of January president Barrack Obama gave The Sate of the Union Address were he gives the conditions of the union as if a doctor diagnosing a person’s symptoms. Giving the speech on how The United States has seen the worst resection of its time. From here he gives a proud speech like the ones a couch gives to his team in half time when they are down by twenty points putting hope back into their eyes with the grace of continuing and not to give up. In the speech Mr. Obama talks about how “there once was a time were you did not need a degree to compete with for jobs and that your only competition wore your neighbors and community but those times are over” (youtube/stateoftheunion.com). I agree with him in a way that it is true to some extent because I know a lot of people who have gotten laid off of their job just because they did not have a degree or did not finish high school. The reception hit the U.S hard especially the small business owners and with a budget being sent to some of these companies there has been a difference on the amount of people working. The question that concerns me is how much money is the U.S going to invest and will it bring the U.S into more dept due to overseas competition who are proving to be smarter than the one world power? I many way people are arguing that Obama was talking too much about how the nation was going to change and all the great plans that they have for it but he never really goes into detail on how the nation is doing right now(thewhithouse.gov).

http://www.truthdig.com/images/eartothegrounduploads/Sorry_State_of_the_U5.jpg

Then the big question on how our troops are doing in hostile grounds? Many people where complaining on that Obama did not talk too much about Afghanistan, Iran or Alkyd a. In the CNN new repot General Richardson talks about how the thirty thousand troops sent overseas has helped in his opinion even though there has not been much change in the government(ccnnews.org). In the address Obama talks about how he want congress to cut back on how much money they give to the oil companies and in my opinion he has a point since the price of gas seems only to be going up with no sign of ever going back to the one $1.25. Overall the State of the Union Address was a good speech only highlighting on some of the problems.

The Perfect Party

January 20, 2011 at 2:49 am (Uncategorized)

Where is the best place to have party you ask? How about a place known for its’ wild life safaris and exotic animals roaming the terrain. A place were when walking the beach you can actually see the floor not like The Gulf of Mexico bay. We can not forget the weather factors and for that we have a solution, a four star hotel with four ballrooms. The sky blue waters that pound the Botany Bay endlessly as if aggravated.  It is said to be one of the most visited cities in the Australian continent(sydneyaustralia.com)  with numerous attractions like The Opera House, The Rocks, Sydney Harbor Bridge, and not to forget The Royal Botanic Gardens.  With the warm weather year round averaging about seventy-one degrees (climate-chart.com).  A great geographical location with The Menzies hotel located in the heart of the city only a stroll away from all of the magnificent attractions Sydney has to offer(sydneyaustralia.com).  In the fall of 1963 the Menzies was opened by Premier R.J Heffon with a mind-blowing two hundred and sixty pounds, which is roughly about four hundred and sixteen million dollars(sydneyaustralia.com).  All the expenditures cover the two hundred and sixty guest rooms with suits, restaurants, lounges and for all the booze drinkers cocktail bars(sydneyaustralia.com).  To add to the marvelous history of Sydney The Menzies was the first international hotel since the Hitler took over Germany in WWII.  An invitation to The Emperors Room on the hotels first floor. In this Ballroom you can seat up to five hundred guest overseeing the dance floor and through the french windows a view of Wynyard park.  A live band centered next to the ice desk offered by the hotel making your hips rock side to side.  The hotel offers a coffee shop for your dreadful morning meetings and to sooth your ears The Piano room filled with classical music.  If you want something more energetic there is The Keller night spot that features Go Go Dancers. To take your Japanese cravings away there is the Keisan which was the first Japanese restaurant in Sydney to be inside of a hotel.  Inside with the four star abominations offered by the hotel faculty are prominently to abominate your every need during the fandango.  To highlight on the classless of the hotel a masquerade party is perfect to fit in the location leaving a mystery behind everones mask.
